Everywhere across the state of Delaware, women, children and men (yes, men) are abused by domestic violence 11,000 times a day. Domestic violence is pervasive. It affects teenage girls as well as senior citizens, the rich as well as the homeless, African Americans as well as Caucasians and everyone in-between. Actual numbers are estimated to be as much as three times higher because a crime like domestic violence is usually under-reported. Shame and fear keep many people from confiding in anyone or even removing themselves out of harm’s way.
