For the past several years, the Lord has unified this body under a general theme that serves to give us direction and focus for that year. For 2010 our theme is "The Year of Favor" based on Proverbs 5:11, 12 "But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord will bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as a shield."
Favor is part of our inheritance as believers. Favor is the goodness of God, the good will of God and the kindness of God. It is the grace of God and the power to do every good work that lies before us. The bible talks of many examples of believers experiencing the favor God. In the book of Esther, we learn that because of God’s favor, Esther was put in a position as the queen to save her people from utter destruction. God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials when they were taken into captivity. In the book of Ruth, we learn that Ruth received favor from Boaz because of her devotion to Naomi.
As children of God we all have the right to walk in the Favor Of God. Psalms 35 speaks of God being our shield and our defense. It reminds us that we’re not alone. No matter what we face in life, God is there ready to pour out His favor on us. The favor of God doesn’t exempt us from battle, but it does exempt us from defeat. When we walk in the favor of God, He ALWAYS causes us to triumph.
God sees us as triumphant in all that we put our hand to, so much so that Zephaniah 3:17 says that He is mighty to save. He takes great delight in you. He will quiet you with his love He will rejoice over you with singing. We’ve got to begin to see the victory, possess the victory because God’s favor is on our lives. We must remember, greater is He that’s in us, than He that’s in the world and as He is, so are we in this world.
